About Steven Gelbs

To say the Rangers are a focal point of Steven's life may be the understatement of the century. Steven has been known to be asked by family and friends to watch the games in a separate room, so as not to indirectly hurt anybody should the Blueshirts lose.

Steven was born in Queens, NY, but moved to Connecticut when he was two years old. Despite no longer being a "New Yorker" Steven's passion for New York sports was (and still is) strong. While he is an avid supporter of the Yankees and Jets, the Rangers take the cake.

Unlike many fans, Steven developed his fandom in an up close and personal way. His father was the team physical therapist for eight years and was on the bench when the Rangers won the Stanley Cup in 1994. It was a desire to be able to skate with the Rangers at team Christmas parties that actually drove Steven to learn to skate and play hockey. In his first ever hockey game, former Ranger Mark Hardy dropped the puck.

When Steven realized that he didn't have the natural ability to play in the NHL, he turned to the next best thing: sportscasting. Steven is currently working towards his goal of becoming a sports broadcaster at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He also currently works as an on-air talent, producer and engineer for WAER radio station in Syracuse, NY, covering Syracuse University Football, Basketball and Lacrosse.

Steven's best Rangers memory is sitting in Section 119 at the Garden for Game 7 against the New Jersey Devils in 1994. His all time favorite player is none other than "The Captain" Mark Messier.

About Eric Rothman

Eric realized at an early age that playing a sport on ice was not his forte. Born in Far Rockaway, New York, Eric grew up with New York sports engrained into his head. Eric has been a globe trotter of sorts in his short life. After only spending a couple years in New York he has jumped around from New Jersey to Iowa and now to his current residence in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Wherever Eric has gone, his love for New York sports has stayed with him. The Rangers are relatively new to Eric's sports repertoire, partly because he's never lived in a hockey town. But after attending a game at the Garden his sports spectrum has been bombarded with non-stop Rangers action.

The self-proclaimed jokester of the NYRangerscast keeps Steve on his toes and the mood of the show light. He is currently attending Syracuse University, where he hopes to make sportstalk radio his living.
