Gomez an All-Star; Rozsival Snubbed

The remaining spots on the All-Star rosters were announced at noon this afternoon and the Rangers’ lone representative is Scott Gomez.  In my mind, it’s well deserved.  Gomez has been everything Rangers fans could hope for this season, something that really can’t be said about many players on the Blueshirt roster.

The big snub to me is Michael Rozsival.  Rozsi is tops in the league in goal scoring by a defenseman and has been solid on the defensive end as well.  He’s a guy who clearly doesn’t get the recognition he deserves around this league and this is just another example of it.

Lundqvist is the only other semi-suprise; “The King” (although that’s questionable now) getting beaten out by Rick DiPietro and Tomas Vokoun.  To me it’s the right call.  The first 25 games this season, Lundqvist was a lock for the Vezina and maybe the Hart, but his unbelievable fallout in recent weeks has completely nullified the fantastic start.  On another note, it might not be that bad that Lundy has to sit out.  He needs a break in the worst way.

Even if he has had a poor ending to the first half, why is Lundqvist not on there when Tomas Vokoun is? Vokoun did not impress me in two games vs. the Pens, and it’s not like he’s carrying that team on his back. Rest might be good for Lundqvist, but it should’ve come in a decline of the All-Star invite (a la Luongo), not from an outright snub.

Gomez dose deserve an all star spot with out question. Leads the team in assist (30) and in points (40). He’s a great play maker and gets the whole team involved in plays; and not so much on his talents alone. Which is what the entire team needs to realize this late in the season. Rozsi should of gotten a spot. Rozsi has 11 goals and has the highest shot percentage on the team! Lundqvist of late has pretty much sucked. Hes not making the really sick saves he always has to show for every game. He seems like he might just be drained out because hes playing like a dead fish in the water, as of late of course. But hes probably going to break out of this slump like he usually dose, But how long can th rangers take this slump for if it continues? I don’t think they’ll pull his, but i would like to see Montoya but hes not having a great season at Hartford. Overall the angers just need to get their act together and start winning games, now!
