Steven,

You seem to right on. Jagr needs to play with a European center to be dominate the way he can be. BUT I would NOT sign him for more than this year. The young kids are promising and if we are going to be competative for the future now is not the time to give up on them

I figured this would be the response from a lot of you. People's Champ, I agree that you can't do this if its a 2-year deal, but if you can convince him for one (and that of course is a big if) then I think you have to make this deal.

The team is in shambles right now and I really don't think the solution is in the room. If it were, it would have showed itself by now--52 games into the season. If you accept that as fact (and I don't know how you can't) then you have two options.

1) You make a trade or deal and try and salvage the season while you still can.

or

2) You accept that the season is a dissapointment and move on to next year.

Now if the only deal that you can make will set the team back for years if it doesn't work out then of course you don't make it and you go with option 2. However, if you can get a player without having to give anything up that MAY save your season and, if it doesn't, you can just move on when the year is done, then you ABSOLUTELY have to take a shot.

Again, if 2 years is all that will do it then don't make the deal. If you can get Forsberg for the remainder of this year only, you have to make it.

NO NO NO! Unless Forsberg accepts a one year deal (which is essentially a half-season contract), there is no way in hell the Rangers should sign him. A two year deal would be a complete nightmare and a reversion to the Rangers of the late 90s. We are talking about a guy who missed games as a Flyer because he couldn't find a skate that was "comfortable enough." Give me a break! Pass.

NO WAY... This is the typical "old" rangers move, and i dont think he is the answer to our problems. yes he is a superstar, but i just dont see it working. and if those are the lines if he was on our team, i dont like that either. Drury needs to be a center, he is not a winger. i hate to say this, but the way it looks is like Drury is the man not fitting in. he showed he cant play with jagr, he has been mediocore at best with shanny, and putting him with the non producing prucha and company of kids doesnt seem to work. Forsberg isnt the answer but a center would help. there will wont be another sean avery out there. i think its simple, this team needs to look around the locker room and say the hell is going on. i like that tom renny was cursing at practice its about time he realized something is wrong. i am going to be very optamistic right now and say that this team will wake with these two huge games against philly and jersey and good things will come. but changes need to be made
