What a Weekend
A complete domination of Buffalo, followed up by the first Rangers win against a Western team, against San Jose. Can’t ask for much more than that folks, 4 out of 4 possible points. A jump to 6th in the conference. Overall, great weekend to be a Rangers fan. I don’t want to go into to much detail about the games because I’m sure we’ll go in depth in the next episode. But here are some points that I take away from this weekend.
- Chris Drury is really coming into his own. He has turned into Midas as of late, thats going to be huge for this team for the stretch run.
- Contrary to Stan Fischler, I believe the King is still just that, THE KING.
- It’s nice to win at home.
- Great job by the Rangers to give extensions to Girardi and Tyutin. A solid defensive pairing that deserves what they have been given.
- Ryan Callahan is BACK and skating like a mad man.
- Jaromir Jagr not scoring has not hurt this team yet, but it sure hasn’t helped. I feel live he is on the verge of having a big stretch of games, but I got to see it.

Just dont call this one a turning point game, and we’ll be good to go

The fact that we matched San Jose physically was something I was especially impressed with. That is definitely one very good thing about having Cally and Duby both going full throttle: they both provide a lot of physicality on the offensive lines.

They may be in 6th but it is weak 6th. The rangers have played more games than ,most of the teams just behind them. When the games even out the Rangers are 9th and playing early April golf. The Rangers need some help to make the playoffs. they do not yet control their own destiny. Once they gain control of their destiny they will follow the path set out by the now three time Super Bowl Champs, New York Giants, and win the Cup.

Inferno, I won’t say it’s a turning point (just in case) but this weekend has certainly been encouraging.
Brendan S, I couldn’t agree more. I thought the physicality of the game kept the team engaged for all 60 minutes. When it comes to Cally and Dubi, they’re both ALWAYS full throttle and its a real pleasure to watch.
UB BULL, you’re not 100% correct in your statements. Yes, the Rangers have played a couple more games then the competition, but 13 of their last 21 games are against the Atlantic Division. They control their own destiny against those opponents.

COME ON PESSIMISTS….CAUTIOUS RANGERS FANS ACROSS GREATER NEW YORK….YOU CAN LIKE THE TEAM AGAIN! Seven out of the eight points available is more than promising…this Rangers squad is playing with verve and want. Now with the most unlikely line combos (thanks Renney for the 200th line combo) who the hell would have thought Dubie would be centering Avery and Jags. Your assessment of Drury is underrated. This guy plays a old time hockey, working both sides of the crease — a terrific defensive and offensive force. Throughout the season, there have been missed scoring opportunities, but he has contributed to the total package more than any other Ranger to date.
Drury will be our Captain in the next couple of seasons. Hail Connecticut.

This is the team I envisioned at the beginning of the season! I realize it takes time to gel and I think they will be the team to beat in the long run. They can make a few adjustments before the deadline. 1) Try to package Roszival in a deal for Tampa’s Dan Boyle, then put Boyle with Staal. 2) Get Adam Foote from Columbus and put him with Mara. Foote should’nt cost that much and he would add the needed grit this defense lacks and would bring additional leadership to the dressing room. Subtract Roszival and Malik we should be in good position to make a strong run!
