like the new look. keep up the good work and let's pray that the sabres have to show up with half their AHL team tomorrow.

a bit more on topic... the rangers' blue line could obviously use some help, but given the limbo that the rangers reside in between buyers and sellers... i definitely wouldn't be "shocked" if the roster doesn't look TOO different come tuesday. sather's sort of between a rock and hard place on this one, and i think the big action is going to have to wait for the summer unless we miraculously pick up a dan boyle without having to sacrifice too much. moreover, definitely agree about picking up avery now when he's (relatively) cheap.

It is drastic. I can live without everyone except Callahan. I see him as a potential 30 goal scorer. I wouldn't give up on him at all.

Whatcha think?

Here are my thoughts... I think I would make a few moves.

Jagr, Our first round draft pick in 2008, and a 2nd in 2008

To

Anahiem for Bobby Ryan, Oilers first round draft pick compensation.

Then

Lauri Korpikoski, Mike Sauer, Dawes/Prucha/Callahan, Malik/Mara and a 2nd (1st if we have to) in 2009 to the Thrashers for Marian Hossa and Exelby

Then

Whichever of dawes/prucha/cally is left + whichever of mara/malik is left + Montoya to the Avalanche for Liles + a draft pick

That would be what i would do. Use our current assets, get a big time young player in bobby ryan, get a very high draft pick that could also potentially turn into a star, plus get younger with Hossa, and pick up Liles.

Its a drastic change, but thats what I would do.

I think Avery's problem is that he is way more hurt than he is putting off. And because he is so hurt, he feels like he is letting everyone down and not living up to who he is and who he can be.
He gets paid to aggitate, talk smack, and goad people into bad penalties. But to me a big part of his game is that he can back it up by being able to fight, right now that isn't the case.
When and if he signs a long term contract, it will help. But I don't think that he'll be the same old Avery untill his wrists heal completely and he can punch somebody in the face whenever he wants to!
