Live Blog: Free Agency

So I know that technically free agency doesn’t start for another twelve hours, but it’s now officially July 1st (despite what it may say to the left of this post) so what the heck, let’s start now!

After months of speculation and plenty of Pepto-Bismal a lot of questions are set to be answered.  It certainly seems as though Sean Avery, Martin Straka and maybe Jaromir Jagr have taken their final broadway bow. Brendan Shanahan, Michael Rozsival and Paul Mara may be out the door as well.  But at this point all we really know is that we know nothing at all.  Agents and GM’s love to posture and leak information in the days before the frenzy and, as Ranger fans, all we can hope for is that much of the information we’ve heard about the Blueshirts is misinformation.

So here’s how this will work.  Anything (fact or rumor) that Eric and I hear or read will be posted here throughout the day in updates on this blog entry.  One or both of us will be here not only to post, but to converse with all of you in the comments section as well.  (Of course there will be a bit of a lull between 3 a.m. and 11ish. Hey, guys have to sleep!)  Anything you hear, feel free to pass along and we’ll try to get confirmation.

It should be a fungut-wrenching day and the NYRangerscast will be with you throughout, so keep it right here.  And don’t forget to take a listen to the most recent episode of the NYRangerscast as you await for the noon bell to ring and free agency to begin!

We’ll kick it off with an update from good friend Sam Weinman of the Journal News.  Sam is reporting the Jagr and the Rangers are still talking.  That could either be a good or a bad thing…depending on whether you want the captain back.  As for this NYRangerscast host, I’m thinking it’s a good thing.  Whether or not the talks mean anything will get done is another story.

Update 12:47 a.m.: Maybe the book on Sean Avery isn’t completely closed after all.  The Fourth Period has quotes from Avery’s agent saying that his number one priority is still to complete a deal with the Rangers.  Not something we haven’t heard before, but I’m a bit suprised to hear that Avery hasn’t essentially told Sather where he can stick it.  So maybe the door is still ajar, but I just don’t get the sense that the Rangers will entice Avery enough.  We’ll see.

Update 11:28 a.m.: Well we’re still about a half an hour away from the opening gun, so here are some things for your reading pleasure as we wait.  Larry Brooks and Steve Zipay basically re-hashes who the Rangers are interested in (which is basically everyone).  Brooks also throws a suprise at us by saying that Brendan Shanahan may cross the river and sign on with the Devils, the place where his hall of fame career began.  Zipay also let’s us knowthat Nigel Dawes and Freddy Sjostrom have been given qualifying offers and we may want to expect a “suprise” before the end of the day.  Sam Weinman reminds us that today really all depends on what happens with Jaromir Jagr.

Update 11:38 a.m: According to Dellapina, Jagr, Avery and Rozsival still badly want to come back to the Rangers and won’t necessarily jump at the first big deal thrown their way.  So that means, even after all of the percieved disrespect felt by these players, the ball is still in Sather’s court.

Update 11:56 a.m.: If Jay Pandalfo was on your list, you can cross him off.  TSN is reporting that he, David Clarkson and Barry Tallackson have re-upped with the Devils.  New Jersey has also declined their option on Sergei Brylin.

Update NOON: GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES!

Update 12:09 p.m.: E.J. Radek is reporting that Joni Pitkanen has been sent to Carolina in exchange for Erik Cole.

Update 12:25 p.m.: Anybody out there hoping for the return of Ranger great Pascal Dupuis?? Well if that was the case for any of you, I’m sorry to dissapoint.  TSN is reporting the winger will be back with the Pens next year.

Update 12:55 p.m.: We have our first free-agent signing with a new team! Radim Vrbata to Tampa Bay

Update 12:57 p.m.: E.J. Radek is reporting Blake Wheeler has signed with the Boston Bruins.  You may remember the Rangers had some interest in the former first round pick a couple weeks ago.

Update 1:19 p.m.: John Dellapina was just on the NHL Network and basically sounds as confused as the rest of us are.  Everything is up in the air still with this team.  Dellapina says he has no idea what Jagr will do, but he badly wants to be a Ranger.  He says Avery will probably be gone despite his desire to stay. And he says he has no idea what Glen Sather is thinking right now.  So what does that all mean? It means that an hour and twenty minutes into free agency, we know just as much as we knew a month ago…NOTHING!

Update 2:04 p.m.: Sam Weinman is reporting that rumblings are indicating Sean Avery is definitely gone and will sign with another team very shortly.

Update 2:17 p.m.: So we’re over two hours into free agency and I’m wondering if watching paint dry might be a more exciting endeavor than this “frenzy” thus far.

Update 2:21 p.m.: Darren Dreger of TSN is reporting that Mats Sundin is getting some big offers, including an outrageous multi-year deal worth $10 million per season! Rest assured that isn’t from the Rangers…at least it better not be or I’m handing in my fan card.

Update 2:39 p.m.: …and that team is the Vancouver Canucks.  You’ve got to be kidding me! $20 million for two seasons is the offer! Good luck to you Mr. Sundin in the Great Northwest.

Update 2:55 p.m.: Dellapina is saying that the performance bonus cushion is officially unavailable this year.  So it looks like some Charlotte Checkers may have a real shot at making the big club this year!

Update 2:59 p.m.: The FAN590 in Toronto is reporting that the Capitals have signed Jose Theodore to a two year deal. That’s a shocker.  Looks like Huet is on the open market now.  Ottawa anybody?

Update 3:03 p.m.: Sportsnet is reporting that the Penguins have offered Jaromir Jagr a contract.  If #68 was added to that Pittsburgh lineup, the Rangers (and the rest of the Atlantic for that matter) may as well not show up next season

Update 3:10 p.m.: FAN590 now saying that Ty Conklin has signed on with Detroit.  That’s a nice little move for a team that lacks a backup with the Dominator gone.  Pens better hope Fleury stays healthy.

Update 3:16 p.m.: Loyal reader Michael wanted a list of all the FA’s.  Here it is.

Update 3:35 p.m.: Toronto just signed Jeff Finger for 4 years at $3.5 million a year.  JEFF FINGER!? This market is getting absurd.

Update 3:40 p.m.: It looks like Jagr’s gone.  Dellapina talked to him a few minutes ago.  When Jagr says that he thinks the Rangers are “going in a different direction” that means that he’s not feeling the love.  After reading that post, I would now be shocked to see Jagr back.  Dellapina also says that the Rangers may be hot after not just Sundin, but Markus Naslund.  Can you say, building around Lundqvist?  And it really seems as though Avery badly wants to stay a Ranger.  Knowing his personality, I can’t believe he’d even consider still working under Sather.

Update 3:49 p.m.: Stillman to Panthers, Huet to Blackhawks.  A lot of smart signings so far.

Update 3:52 p.m.: TSN reporting that the Rangers have signed Aaron Voros.  Thank God! And I thought Sather didn’t have a plan…

Update 4:05 p.m.: TSN reporting that Darcy Tucker signed with the Avalanche.  Avery to Detroit to keep that rivalry going?

Update 4:48 p.m.:Looks like all the GM’s have gone on a late lunch break.  Small signings to make you aware of…Alex Auld (G) Signs with Senators…Penguins sign Eric Godard (RW)…and accoring to the Columbus Dispatch, Brian Campbell will be getting a deal worth over $60 million.

Update 4:54 p.m.: Welcome Eric Rothman to the live blog.  That update at 4:48 was from the E-man.  I can’t be here every second for a little while so Eric and I will be updating together.

Update 5:13 p.m.: FAN590 saying that Wade Redden is being heavily wooed by Dallas.  They’re reporting a 5 year deal on the table.  The Rangers are still in the sweepstakes but the Stars look like the front runner now.

Update 5:38 p.m.: Since there has been a significant break in action I thought I would pose a question to everyone.  Does the fact that Avery and Jagr have yet to sign elsewhere give you any sort of hope that they may sign with the Rangers after all?  My answer would be no because I figure they have both (or at least Avery) have figured out where they are going to go but just need to sign on the dotted line.  Let me know what you think.

Update 5:43 p.m.: So much for the break. John Dellapina is reporting that the Rangers are close to a deal with Michal Rozsival. No confirmation yet but it looks like the Rangers will at least return one of their UFA’s this year.

Update 5:46 p.m.: The money keeps flowing in the NHL.  TSN is reporting that the Blackhawks have signed Brian Campbell to an 8-year $56.8 million dollar deal. Wow.

Update 6:04 p.m.: Another defenseman off the board.  TSN reports that the Blue Jackets have signed Mike Commodore to a 5 year deal worth $18.75 million dollars.

Update 6:08 p.m.: Another HUGE Rangers signing.  Sam Weinman reports the Rangers have signed Patrick Rissmiller, a left winger from San Jose.  Rissmiller is another big body.  Apparently the Rangers will be trying to push people around this season.  He’s not a scorer or really much of an offensive producer.  Rissmiller had 8 goals and 9 assists in 79 games for San Jose last season.  Also, he is coming off of a sports hernia that he played through in the playoffs.

Update 6:16 p.m.: John Dellapina is reporting that the Devils have signed foward Brian Rolston.  Rolston is a guy that many thought the Rangers were in the bidding war for.  The idea was to put him alongside the speedy Scott Gomez.  So much for that.

Update 6:21 p.m.: As we reported on June 16th, Swedish winger Andreas Jamtin will officially be a Ranger next season.  Also just announced, the Rangers will be petitioning to become the Swedish national team next year.  And just a side note, amid the free agent frenzy, King Henrik has announced plans to buy up properties in Manhattan to open up a “Little Sweden” section of NYC with his Swedish teammates.

Update 6:24 p.m.: It’s Steven here and I just have to jump in with this comment.  What the heck are the Rangers doing?  Are they trying to get a top five pick in next year’s draft or something??

Update 6:49 p.m.: TSN is reporting that the Rangers have officially re-signed Michal Rozsival to a 4 year $20 million dollar deal.  Five million a year for Rozsival and Avery can’t get $3.5?

Update 7:20 p.m.: Weinman’s reporting the deal for Voros is three years at $1 million a year.

Update 7:46 p.m.: Sorry for the delay in getting this up, but this day has lured me to sleep.  Sam Weinman is reporting that the Rangers have made their first free agent splash of the day and locked up Wade Redden to a six-year deal worth $6.5 per season.  That’s $11.5 million a year in two defensemen, both of whom certainly have their moments.  On the positive side, this is your legitimate power play quarterback.  But on the other hand this now leaves about $10 million left to fill numerous other spots on this team.  We’ll see how it all plays out, but at least it’s something.

Update 8:52 p.m.: Rangers have locked up Stephen Valiquette as well.

hmm…
as most may well know, I think Sean is numero uno on our priorities list hear. Great if Jags is back, but OK if he dosen’t.
I just don’t want us to be bare bones by the end of all of this.
Knock on wood Blueshirts!!

Steven Gelbs June 30th at 11:45 pm

Gabbi, I get the sense you may have to knock on a whole lot more than wood to get your wish to see #16 back.

I do agree with you though. In an ideal world that should be their number 1 priority.

Michael July 1st at 9:00 am

I would agree completely with Gabbi, although another high priority has to be a goal-scoring winger. I’m sure the Rangers won’t land Hossa, but there are still some other options out there.

I’d also like to see the team add a hard-hitting, stay-at-home defenseman to give us some much-needed toughness on the blue line. Too many times last year, opposing forwards would skate untouched into our zone and have their way in the corners, and that’s inexcusable.

Gabbi R. July 1st at 11:10 am

Mike–
exactly!
Brooks Orpik anyone????
Happy Canada Day everyone!

Gabbi R. July 1st at 1:29 pm

yes, paint drying…
Ugh…
I’m catching up on missed sleep
or finding that little ball I threw…
Note I should have learned from the Rangers:
Don’t ever blindly dump the puck, because you usually end up losing it.

Michael July 1st at 1:44 pm

Excellent! Our first move, we re-signed Matt Zaba to a contract extension!!!!

Michael July 1st at 1:46 pm

To me, Vancouver is definitely overpaying for Sundin, who is still a very good player but isn’t worth $10 million a season anymore. Also, Vancouver is a beautiful city and place to live, so I’m surprised the Canucks had to pay that much to bring him in.

On another note, write it down right now: The Tampa Bay Lightning will be a serious contender in the East next year.

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 1:52 pm

Michael, I’m going to agree with you on the Lightning front. With the signing of Kolzig, they now have at least an NHL level goaltender.

I will say this though. They are spending money like there’s no tomorrow. If, as the season moves along, they are a piece or two away, they may not have the flexibility to make a move.

Michael July 1st at 1:55 pm

To me, it’s not just about Kolzig, they have Mike Smith as well and he’s a good goalie, it’s more the fact that they just signed Malone and Roberts, brought back Vinny Prospal, brought in a player’s coach, and had the number 1 pick, who by all accounts is ready to contribute this season. In the Southeast Division, that’s plenty, and I think they’ll be fighting it out with a young Washington team all season.

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 2:01 pm

I’m still a little skeptical of their defense right now, but if you’re a TB fan you can’t be dissapointed right now. They’ll be one of the most exciting teams in the league to watch.

Michael July 1st at 2:03 pm

I read that the Devils won’t be bringing back Arron Asham, and I think he’s a player the Rangers would do well to sign. He wouldn’t be expensive, he’s very physical, can give you maybe 25-35 points a season, he’s a big guy, and would slot in nicely on the 3rd or 4th line.

Michael July 1st at 2:05 pm

I also wonder if the fact that he’s played for both NJD and NYI would factor into him wanting to or not wanting to sign with the Rangers if they made an offer…

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 2:06 pm

I wouldn’t mind Asham coming in as an inexpensive piece, but I don’t think the Rangers can make any moves until they know what the deal with Jagr and maybe Hossa is.

Michael July 1st at 2:12 pm

True, very true. I’m not at all convinced that they’ll be willing to spend huge money on Hossa though, but it’s obviously worth a shot given his talent level..

Is there one list of all the FA’s? I’ve tried searching a bunch of different sites for like a little cheat sheet but I can’t find anything; it’d be nice to see everyone available all on one page.

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 2:16 pm

http://nhlnumbers.com/freeagents.php?team=none&pos=none&summer=none&status=rfa

That’s the list. I’ll post in on the live blog as well.

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 2:17 pm

Michael July 1st at 2:19 pm

Excellent, thanks.

Michael July 1st at 2:26 pm

Jim Vandermeer is a very interesting player, he’d be a good fit on the Rangers blue line as well I think. He’s had some epic fights in the last two seasons but can also really play the game and is as reliable as they come, hits very well, but doesn’t chip in much offensively..he’s also part of a modern-day Sutter family; he’s got 6 brothers that all play professional hockey at some level, including one that is the captain of a minor league team in Richmond that I watch all the time.

Teresa July 1st at 2:56 pm

So the plan seems to be to let the guys who know the system, know the team go and sign a bunch of new guys who will need to go through months of trying to find the right chemistry. Brilliant!

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 3:00 pm

Teresa I think you meant a bunch of LESS TALENTED new guys

Michota July 1st at 3:03 pm

Who the F#**k is Aaron Voros? Thisdoesn’t look good.

Teresa July 1st at 3:05 pm

My bad!

Steve – you know I am a Jagr fan first, I only recently became a Ranger fan. This is ridiculous. Is this what Sather usually does? Is he trying to get the biggest name to sign in NY, like last year with Gomez and Drury?

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 3:09 pm

Unfortunately Teresa, yes this is how Sather handles his business. He isolates people and tries to “beat” people instead of come to deals with them.

I am, however, baffled by him this time around. He just seems to have absolutely no plan whatsoever. I said it on the podcast, but you wonder just how much of an influence Don Maloney had in constructing this team. They seemed to have a real direction when he was around and he’s brought that vision to Phoenix.

If Sather messes this free agency up as bad as it looks like he is, then I’m feeling about Sather the same way I did during the dark ages before 2004

Teresa July 1st at 3:12 pm

Oh, please let there be a better plan coming soon! This is making me feel sick.

Inferno July 1st at 3:24 pm

To me this Voros signing is like, having a car where the engine fell out, the transmission is screwed, and you have no tires, but going to the local store to buy one of those tree air freshener things. Sure, its nice to have, but wtf dude, there are other things you should address first dontcha think?

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 3:32 pm

Inferno, that’s the best comparison I’ve heard so far.

Why are we focusing on minor league goaltending and an enforcer when we’re missing everything except centermen and goaltenders.

I don’t want to jump the gun, but if this keeps up I will be seriously questioning on the next podcast if Sather is the right man to steer this team to a championship.

This is just embarrassing right now.

Inferno July 1st at 3:37 pm

Im just hoping that this was just a minor deal that we managed to get out of the way thanks to some illegal tampering or something, or maybe Schoenfeld did this one while Sather was actually working over the guys we really need. I mean, if we announced we signed, i dunno, ANYONE of consequence, Streit, Commodore, hell even Satan, at least its an effort to fix the problems we have, this just seems like such a useless, “why are we thinking about this now?” kind of a move.

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 3:39 pm

All we know is that one of two things has definitely happened. Either Sather badly misread the market or he is off in Florida smoking a cigar on his yacht with his phone off.

Michael July 1st at 3:52 pm

Aaron Voros is nothing but a thug; the guy can barely play the game. Minnesota used him as basically their second enforcer because no one wanted to fight Boogaard, not that I can blame them. Voros is useless and will probably be a healthy scratch more often than not because at least Colton Orr knows how to play hockey.

Steve, your comment about Sather and wondering whether he can lead this team to a championship is spot on, but it’s not breaking news by any means. I think any Rangers fan would tell you that the answer to that question is no, and most fans wanted him gone a long time ago..There’s a reason Don Maloney was snatched up by Phoenix, the guy knows how to build a team and he wasn’t going to get any credit for it as long as he stayed in New York.

Michael July 1st at 3:54 pm

Also, you just cited the Columbus Dispatch about Campbell and the money he’ll make, does that mean he’s going to get it from the Blue Jackets, or were they just the paper reporting it?

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 3:56 pm

I believe they are just reporting right now. Not to say Columbus isn’t interested though.

Eric Rothman July 1st at 3:58 pm

Michael…I’m running the board right now…but the Dispatch report is not for the Blue Jackets…just a general report by their NHL blogger

Eric Rothman July 1st at 3:58 pm

and i guess Steve is here too ha

Michael July 1st at 3:59 pm

Gotcha, and that would definitely be a bold statement from a team that played pretty well last season for 60 games or so, they’re on the way up.

Michael July 1st at 4:01 pm

I stand corrected to a certain extent about Voros, he had 14 points in 55 games last season for Minnesota but that was an anomaly, he’d never put up those kind of numbers before in pro hockey.

Eric Rothman July 1st at 4:03 pm

Michael no need to retract your previous statement…he brings nothing the Rangers need…is this all an attempt at reverse psychology by Sather…because he’s got me thrown for a loop

Michael July 1st at 4:11 pm

He’s not smart enough to use reverse psychology, I just don’t think he knows what he’s doing.

Gabbi R. July 1st at 4:30 pm

Voros is the new sean avery?
I think Slather’s under a pipe dream… or under a pipe…
He makes some think “Well, shame on Sean, we found this great new enforcer!!” But we all know that’s total bull and a VERY poor attempt on Slather’s part.
and here’s from my live blog:
3:52- Rangers sign Aaron Voros
3:53- Gabbi starts banging head on wall and saying “It’s all a bad nightmare…”

and I’m not a talking dog(:

Teresa July 1st at 4:41 pm

Anyone else getting sick at all this money that is being thrown around? I’m sitting here with an ever growing gas bill and a good size student loan while working as a Kindergarten teacher at a Catholic school. I love hockey and I am all for taking money you are given, but this is nuts.

Richard S. July 1st at 4:49 pm

I think it is good news, plus the fact that even though Avery was given permission to talk to other teams that he still said he wants to stay in New York. Maybe its wishful thinking, And Jagr is either staying in New York or going overseas, I dont think there is any othere option for him.

Eric Rothman July 1st at 4:51 pm

Richard…what about the potential offer from the Pens? I don’t think it will happen but if he really wants to stay in the NHL one more year, I think another team will give him a deal.

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 4:52 pm

Richard, there are other options for Jagr. Pittsburgh is reportedly one of a handful of teams very interested in him.

scummy July 1st at 4:58 pm

Great, I spent all day at work getting pumped up to see some big-time deals or no deals for the Rangers and so far its a bust. *sigh* I really, really hope Sather has an earth shattering plan.

Richard S. July 1st at 4:59 pm

by options Im not saying that other teams arent going to give him offers, Im saying that I think that his personal options seem to be New York or Europe. Period.

scummy July 1st at 5:12 pm

I don’t care about rozy or jags… I just want Avery back. Please hockey gods… hear my plea.

Michael July 1st at 5:19 pm

Great, Patrick Rissmiller, another 2nd (at best) or 3rd line winger, not that impact goal scorer we need. He’s a solid player, but come on.

Happy to hear that Rozy will re-sign, he’s by far the best offensive defenseman on the team and leads the team in time on ice nearly every game. I’d love to see Mark Streit as well, as he’d be a huge lift to the PP.

Tampa signed Adam Hall as their raid of the Penguins continues..look for them to really contend next year as I said earlier, especially with Dan Boyle healthy again..Chicago, with Campbell and the development of their youngsters after an impressive season last year, will get into the playoffs this season.

Teresa July 1st at 5:21 pm

Rosival looks to be coming back – at least we’ll have one Czech on the ice in Prague.

So we signed 2 guys to help fill the void if Avery leaves. Here’s a thought just sign Avery and problem solved.

Michael July 1st at 5:22 pm

Just to expand, Eric, Rissmiller is a big body as you said, but he’s not the type of guy that drops the gloves either and is really not that physical for his size. He’s extremely tough and durable, though, so you’ve got to like that.

Michael July 1st at 5:25 pm

Rolston’s another guy that would’ve helped us a lot, great on the PP, great two-way player, and was Minnesota’s captain for multiple months over the past two seasons..Another one we let slip away..

Inferno July 1st at 5:26 pm

Introducing youre starting left winger for the Rangers, Jan Hlavac!

Teresa July 1st at 5:30 pm

I got to think everything with the Rangers is hinging on if they get Hossa. If he comes to NY, then how much money is left for other players and who do you spend it on. If that’s not it, then there is a serious mental problem going on with Sather.

Michael July 1st at 5:38 pm

I’d be inclined to agree, Teresa, but honestly, can you see the Rangers shelling out 12-15 million (at the very, very least) a season for Hossa? Because I can’t.

Gabbi R. July 1st at 5:40 pm

Yeah, I suppose we’re aiming high for Tavares then!!

Teresa July 1st at 5:40 pm

I don’t want another player that will have to try to mesh with what players we do have left. I am heavily leaning toward Sather having a serious mental problem – maybe the date on his watch is wrong?

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 5:43 pm

Michael, I’m not 100% sure of this but I believe there is a cap for how much you can offer a player per year as well as a total salary cap. I’m pretty sure the most is 11 million a year this year.

Richard S. July 1st at 5:47 pm

I think steve zipay is onto something, with all of these minor signings he is hinting at a possible trade. who knows…

Michael July 1st at 5:50 pm

Yeah I believe you’re right, Steve, but I’m saying a deal that averages out to that much a season, not necessarily that much money this season. The max salary per season goes up accordingly as the total salary cap does, I’d assume, so a back-loaded deal could very well be possible.

Michael July 1st at 5:52 pm

I agree with Richard though, which is a bit of a shock, I think Sather may still have something up his sleeve, but he may have waited too long to pull the trigger..

Inferno July 1st at 5:56 pm

I like signing Rozsival. A tad bit overpriced, but hes a legit #2, and thats a fair price for that kind of a player.

Michael July 1st at 6:00 pm

Yep, and in this market, everyone’s going to be a bit overpriced so I’m not too surprised.

scummy July 1st at 6:08 pm

I agree 100% Eric/Steve… The guy who in game 5 against Pitt had an assload of penalties at in-opportune times gets 5 Mil and Avery can’t get 3.5? COME ON SATHER! Seriously…

Inferno July 1st at 6:39 pm

GREAT move to pick up Redden.

Rangers now haev a seriously upgraded defense.

Teresa July 1st at 6:45 pm

Now, who will score? Gomez and Drury are going to have their work cut out for them, especially if one of them has to fight through the top defenseman of the other team.

Inferno July 1st at 6:46 pm

If they can pick up Jagr, I think they might be ~OK

Teresa July 1st at 6:48 pm

Inferno- I hope that is the plan.

Steven Gelbs July 1st at 6:53 pm

I’m in agreement Inferno. If they lock up Jagr, we can all back off the ledge. If not, I’m still not sold on this current bunch.

scummy July 1st at 6:55 pm

Yup Reddin makes me happy… I still want Avery though. Damnit.

scummy July 1st at 7:14 pm

Holik and Rolston return to Devils may I be the first to – LMFAO… 10 mill left? Avery – 3, Dawes – 1.7 Shanny – 3…. Or for you Jagr lovers Avery at 3 and Jagr at 5 or something? Leavin some room in there of course, but the holik thing just cracks me up because he’s gonna get boo’d to hell at the Garden.

Inferno July 1st at 7:39 pm

Rangers have locked up Vally as well.

Gabbi R. July 1st at 8:24 pm

So I guess Avery is totally out of the question now…
unless he wants the rest of the cap money…

Gabbi R. July 1st at 9:51 pm

You guys still keepin’ it real with the live blog?
and eric– are you gonna eat a bagle if the Rangers sign Hossa??
