Can We Direct The Venom At Those Who Deserve It?

Guys, the personal attacks in the comments section have got to stop.

Listen, I know what sports can do to people.  Eric and I are two of the most passionate sports fans around.  Sometimes when there’s passion involved, disagreements arise.  Recently though, the comments on this blog have veered from respectful disagreements to personal attacks.

This is sports people.  It’s supposed to be fun.  Everyone who takes part in this blog (for the most part) is a Rangers fan who wants what’s best for the team.  We encourage discussion about what exactly “what’s best for the team” means, but it needs to remain civil.

We don’t want to be “that blog” that screens all the comments before they go up, so don’t make us do that.  Keep it to hockey, keep it respectful.  We love the passion, but the personal venom’s got to stop.

And if you just have to make some disparaging comments about somebody, let’s keep it to those who deserve it.  Martana Brodeur perhaps? Denise Potvin? There’s plenty of options.

We know that this doesn’t apply to the majority of the commenters, but it still has to be addressed.

So keep enjoying the blog and don’t make us write this again.  It takes away from what we really need to be talking about…the Rangers version 2.0!

Then start screening, I have as much a right to attack someone for their idiotic comments as you do to talk about the yankees during your rangers podcast.

Anyways, its all in good fun.

I am stupid.

There, now you have to ban me for insulting myself…

:-D

btw, for the record…theres a reason i have comments disabled on my site fellas. I dont feel like babysitting, so its much easier for me to deal with it that way.

Guys nobody’s banning anybody and Richard I’m not saying don’t state your arguments and disagreements. But it’s starting to veer into insulting for the sake of insulting and bickering for the sake of bickering.

Nobody has to like anybody on this site, even Eric and I, but just keep it respectful.

If you guys want to go at each other’s throats with personal attacks then you really should do that through email.

Let’s have some fun and some good passionate dialogue, but remember we’re all Rangers fans here.

Quite honestly,

What is a blog without a commenting section? It becomes a plain vanilla sort of news cast. The author/editor spews out their opinion with no difference of opinion to make conversation.

BTW Inferno

I love the videos that you put together but the commenting off on your site I can see why it is off. Our opinions vary a great deal on many topics.

It’s unfortunate from time to time that these posts have to be made to try and keep things civil but the interaction for the most part when civil is what makes the blog what it is.

Keep up the great work guys.

My insults are never without me actually talking about a subject and disputing it. I just throw them in there for good taste. Cause if I dont tell Michael how big a chav he really is then no one will

MartyD, Eric and I agree with your sentiment and there is no way that we will be turning off the comment section. This was more of a “nipping in the bud” post.

Again Richard, I could care less if you call it like you see it, but by making seemingly unprovoked comments like “Can we trade Michael?” you are baiting him into an argument between the two of you where personal attacks are flying back and fourth with no end in sight. It changes the discussion from a group of Ranger fans talking about the subject(s) on hand, to you and Michael using this website as a medium for only the two of you to insult and other people stay away.

If you disagree with each other, then disagree passionately. We love the passion. But in recent postings the conversation has changed from constructive disagreement to petty dislike of each other. Please stay on point as much as possible. That’s all we ask.

hopping in with my usual completely out of context question but hey attack me, it’s all good I’m a big boy. Anyone go to D-day this year? (24 hour paintball scenerio game in Jim Thorpe PA, based on the Invasion of Normandy)…. Just thought I’d see since I know some of us are from the pa/nj/ny locale… The response on my Rangers tattoo was pretty varied, still the only person I know with a sports team tattoo (other than the guy that did this one) … Tell ya one thing though, almost every Devil was absolutely estatic when Averys name was brough up. Damn you Sather…If rich or mike wanna trash talk someone on a personal basis lets leave it to Sather and Avery please.

As long as somebody, anybody makes absurd, idiotic comments just to be argumentative Im going to attack thier comment as well as them. I dont care who did it, Michael or anyone else. I have nothing against the guy. Its not gonna stop, if people are going to spurt their stupid ass mouths off, then they and you need to be prepared for a personal rebuttal. This is what the internet is for. I know you guys want to be peace keepers, but I for one can’t let ssomeone mouth off and say anything they want.
